Event Details
Charity Hack Weekend brings together charities and developers to revolutionise the collection of donations. Join us 19-20 September 2009 and be part of this extraordinary event. We’re looking for developers to come up with new and innovative ways of helping charities promote their causes and garner support.
The weekend will be hosted by PayPal at their Richmond, London, UK offices. It is a ticketed only event, available on a first come first serve basis.
The challenges
At the end of the weekend, prizes will be awarded for the best application in the following categories:
Social Media
Web
Mobile
A number of charities will also be setting other challenges for the weekend, follow the blog to see which charities are setting which challenges.
What you will get access to on the day includes
JustGivings new API (available for the first time at this event)
MissionFish’s cash giving APIs available for the first time in the UK
PayPals new Beta Adaptive Payments API’s
Sneak Preview of other API’s
These are just some of the APIs that will be featured, there is no limit to the APIs that can be used. Visit the event Wiki for links to APIs documentation, attendees bios, and links to the applications created after the weekend.
What we hope to get from the weekend
We hope by the end of the weekend a number of interesting applications have been born that can be used by any charity under an open source style licence.
What do I need to bring
The venue will be providing Wi-Fi and power on location, but you will need to bring your own laptops, software development kits and any other tools you need.
We will also provide food, tunes and entertainment but bring your own bedding if you plan on trying to sleep. Showers facilities are also available on site.

If you already registered for the Charity Hack Weekend but need to cancel, please notify us ASAP at ukdeveloper@paypal.com so we can offer your space to someone else.

This event will be recorded. By attending this event, you consent to us taking your photograph, and videotaping you and allow us to use such photographs or videotapes for any purposes in the future without compensation to you. Over 18’s only.
